A record field of 441 runners took part in the Sept. 21 Hey Hey 5k at Door County Brewing Co. in Baileys Harbor.
Derek Fameree of De Pere finished first overall in 19:10 on a beautiful, warm September Saturday. He was followed by Peter Schrader in 19:29 and Noah Bruehl in 20:19.
Raissa Ashman of Seymour won the women’s division for the second time, finishing in 21:26. Ruth Povlich, 38, finished second in 21:56, and Pam Schmitz, 39, of Fish Creek finished third in 22:08.
The day’s top finishers took home gift cards from Door County Brewing Co, and all finishers took home glassware from the taproom and new 2024 race t-shirts.
More than 30 youth runners also took part, finishing with root beer floats and getting gift cards for free mini golf from Egg Harbor Fun Park, which also provided big prize packages for the top three youth finishers.
Next year’s Hey Hey 5k takes place Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025.
