Braaksma Wins Hey Hey 5k, then Gets Married

Matthew Braaksma and Jenn Anderson met through running, so when it came time to plan their wedding day in Door County, of course a race was part of the festivities. The two competed in an Ironman event two weeks before their wedding at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, and they started off their big day in Baileys Harbor by running the Hey Hey 5k.

Better yet, Braaksma won it for the second year in a row.

He was the first of nearly 300 runners to cross the finish line behind Door County Brewing Co., finishing in 17:59. Robyn Lauritsen of De Pere was the first woman to finish in 20:21. It was her third straight win in the race.
